How I started writing poetry.
I was first inspired to write poetry in 2018. While at a training camp leading up to the Invictus Games Sydney Australia 2018, a moving and emotional conversation with a teammate inspired my first writing One Young One Old. I noticed quickly as I continued to write how much of a tool and a resource writing was for my mental health and well-being. Expression through writing, creativity and flow, I had tapped into a way of letting out strong emotions. Writing became so much more to me, it became a way of healing and personal growth. My writing has since expanded and gown since my earlier days and I now write a wider variety adding some spice to life!
How did ‘Knot Redefined’ come to be?
‘Knot Redefined’ is a collection of poetry that I was inspired to bring together after a shocking brain tumour diagnosis in 2020. I felt compelled give my work life, put in out into the world in the hopes that it could one day offer the reader moments of self reflection and self guided healing. “‘Knot Redefined’ is a reminder that we can be our own light even when it is dark.” -Naomi Fong
