I’m Naomi Fong, the founder of naomifong.com and I am living proof that there is life after trauma. I created this platform to share my lived experience through art and creative expression. I am building myself, tapping into my own strengths and sharing what I’ve learned along the way.
In 2018, being a part of Team Canada for the Invictus Games in Sydney, Australia gave me the courage and the platform to speak publicly surrounding my experiences with mental health and well-being derived from sexual traumas I faced throughout my military service. I struggle with PTSD and other injuries from my time in the service. I prepared and competed in the Invictus Games, in Sydney, Australia, and won 2 bronze medals for Canada in Women’s Cycling. It was an experience that was both inspiring and transformative.
My healing journey lead me to certify as a yoga instructor. I have also studied and graduated with honours from the Social Service Worker program at Algonquin College (2018) and the Paramedic Program at Northern College (2006). I am also certified as an Advanced Emergency Medical Care Assistant.
In 2020 I was diagnosed with a brain tumour. The diagnosis brought up a lot of feelings and emotions. The uncertainty didn’t sit well. I then made the decision to publish my poetry, create my book Knot Redefined and share with the world my writings that helped me through some really challenging periods of my life. I wanted to create something with the intention of helping others find, rediscover and identify their own personal strengths as well as offer hope.
My mission now is to help others self-discover and self-empower through speaking, writing and art.
May the Divine in Me see the Divine in You.

It has certainly been a long journey.
“She learned to love herself when it’s dark and she is alone” – Knot Redefined (Fong, 2021)
I am learning and still learning about myself. I recognize now that I have come a long way. The hard work, time and energy I have put into to myself, my commitment to learning, self growth and healing has not been in vain. Having the hard conversations and being open about some of my experiences has been and still is part of my healing process.
