How it can feel being in a relationship with an avoidant expressed through poetry.

Relationships are challenging whether it be with ourselves or with another person. I see poetry as an opportunity for creative expression. A safe way of getting thoughts and feelings out. I feel that this takes a weight off of me. I feel more clear. The expression in itself, it allows me to feel seen and heard. Seeing, hearing and acknowledging myself, I see this as a practice in self-empowerment. Learning, healing and growth one word at a time.

Avoidant detachment closeness never near

Hurt unheard mislabeled loud and clear

Unwilling unable mindset Wow

Voiced needs twisted to greed

When really it’s just a heart

A heart that bleeds

Bleeds vulnerable needs

Broken connection tears they stream

Of a heart shut down

The end of a dream
